Starts slow. Will reward the devotee, though others should select a more famous volume. After a chapter or two it becomes quite lively, with of course an infinity of style and wit, as who would not expect? Flags, in various spots, requiring a bit of commitment, but then there are unusual features I will|About the Author|Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881-1975) was a British writer best known for his Jeeves and Blandings Castle novels and stories. Born into an ancient Norfolk family, he was well exposed to the upper class society he wrote about so humorously.
This is the novel that made Wodehouse famous, before the Jeeves and Blandings books. Jimmy Crocker, who is famous in British press as Piccadilly Jim, returns to New York, gets involved in the kidnapping of his spoiled cousin Ogden and falls in love with Ann Chester, who is behind the plot. Wodehousean confusion ensues, with multiple imposters (including Jim impersonating himself), butlers, aunts and hen-pecked husbands and a very odd detective.
